Apply for a Student/Early Career Travel Award

Deadline has now passed. Thank you to all who applied.

CERF student members and certain early career and recent graduate members in need of financial assistance to attend the CERF Conference may request travel support from the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation. Awards generally range from $150 to $300 per person. Students can use this award as leverage for additional support from their academic department or your employer.

Please contact Martha Sutula with questions.

CERF Affiliate Societies (ACCESS, AERS, CAERS, GERS, NEERS, PERS, and SEERS) may also award conference travel money to students.

Eligibility and Application:

To qualify for a travel award, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have not received a CERF travel award for past CERF conferences.
  • Be enrolled at a university or college for the 2015 fall semester, or have graduated in a related science degree program anytime after November 2012.
  • Be a CERF member in good standing when you apply.
  • Be registered for and be present at the CERF 2015 conference to pick up your check.
  • Agree to fill out the conference evaluation form, including your observations and recommendations about student-related activities for future CERF conferences.
  • Applicants are highly encouraged, but not required, to submit an abstract to give an oral or poster presentation at the conference.
